Worst driving of the day award goes to the driver of this vehicle found cruising along the horse track in #RichmondPark Thankfully no horse riders were affected [🏇] A fine will be sent to him in the post
Driver was avoiding speeding cyclists, so should be let off.
Drivers oppose to plan to introduce charges at Borrow Pit car park in Walmer
Those who use the car park now fear charging people will only drive visitors away and make parking harder on nearby roads outside people’s homes.
(thanks for the threat, guys)

LETTER: 'Salisbury residents being held in utter contempt'
TL:DR - instead of my village life being marred a little bit by cars, various local road closures mean it is being marred a lot more.

Gets it a bit out of the way I guess.

Leominster's Corn Square should not ban cars
There is limited parking at the best of times. All the shops here will suffer if it changes. Who wants to sit outside in our cold winters drinking coffee?

Not gonna say "didn't happen", but I doubt this the whole story. Not sure why it gets police time. No drivers involved - sorry.

Nearly 600 red light jumpers caught on camera 'think rules don't apply to them
CornwallLive readers have their say after nearly 600 drivers caught by Cornwall's only 'red light' camera
Woody1961_ questioned the statistics: "I'd like to see the stats showing the number of accidents at this junction. I suspect the motivation for this installation is driven by greed and a seemingly relentless hatred in the UK for anything motorised. Perhaps not so much safety."
Stephen Norman wrote: "It’s war on the motorist. There’s the red light jumpers who couldn’t give a monkeys and there’s those who get caught on amber as they approach the lights. Big difference but I’m guessing all will be treated the same."

Turns left off the main dual carriageway road from the lane marked right turn.
Due to previous offending the driver was remanded over the weekend and received the following sentence: -Disqualified from driving again for three years -18 week custodial sentence suspended for 12 months -250hrs unpaid work -£300 in fines
5 second momentary lapse of concentration whilst pissing about with a heated steering wheel. The driver went on to kill a motorist in a head-on crash.
She had to look away from the road in order to prat around with the steering wheel and pressed a button twice. The car then veered across the road in the direction of where Mr Allen was travelling from. A witness travelling behind her said she strayed for about five seconds.
Worgan faced up to three years in jail under sentencing guidelines after she admitted to causing death by careless driving. But she was given 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered that she undertake 200 hours of unpaid work. She was also made to pay £239 in costs and victim surcharge and banned from driving for two years.
Jon Burke
"While the Transport Secretary backs 14-year sentences for the almost non-existent crime of 'reckless cycling', drivers who kill people while distracted by their SUV’s heated steering wheel are handed suspended sentences and short driving bans. Grotesque."

Swerved in a 20 to avoid speeding cyclist
A drug driver who ran over a pedestrian on Clingoe Hill after taking cannabis and cocaine “was not knowingly under the influence of drugs” a barrister said.
A drugs test later showed he had 457mcg of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood.
The legal limit is 50mcg.

The unofficial start of Cornwall's tourist season has kicked off. Not with the sun breaking through the clouds, but with the annual tradition of a vehicle getting stuck on a sandy beach.
A silver Subaru Forester that found itself lodged in the soft sands of Constantine Beach near Padstow, despite its all-wheel drive capabilities.
Cyclists are a danger to pedestrians in Hereford High Town
There have recently been several instances nationally where elderly pedestrians have been knocked over and killed by thoughtless cyclists. How long before this happens in central Hereford?

The 20mph road where people keep getting fined for speeding
North Wales Police have released figures showing which roads in the region have seen the most drivers caught exceeding the 20mph speed limit in the last few months
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/20mph-road-people-keep-get...
For decades, the motor industry has sold drivers (egged-on by the motor racing and rallying industry) this thing that can achieve speeds way too high for real world use, such that our reporter appears to be struggling to control his speed. It sounds like he had some chancers behind him anxious to get a fine of their own.
If part of the road did switch to 30 mph and back, no doubt that would "confuse drivers" and from there we're back to all 30 mph. There's never anything about protecting local people's amenities, is there? And we get a hint of "there's no-one around, why should I go slowly?"
It's drivers who are being fined - no-one else.
As predicted by Sir Issac Newton, road casualties in Wales have reduced, but the continuing instability in the Welsh Labour Party leadership continues to be a worry.
OK, which of you was it?

Ashford Borough Council reintroduces free parking at The Ashford Cinema’s car park at Elwick Place
A spokesman for the authority, which is run by a Ashford Independents/Green Party coalition, said: "The free parking will make the cinema more accessible and help increase the number of visits."
https://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/new-car-park-to-open-in-town-c...
"Meanwhile, a third person noted: "If they can do this for the council-run cinema, why couldn't they just do four hours of free parking in all of the town centre car parks to encourage people there?""
Poor old Brexit-voting Ashford, Kent, so many hopes pinned on the International station - currently with no international services - just down the road from this site.
https://www.kentonline.co.uk/kent/news/live-eu-referendum-results-97758/
This council-owned site, a former market, became a cinema and recently the most recent operator Picturehouse pulled out. There's stiff competition from an out of town Cineword.

https://www.kentonline.co.uk/ashford/news/cinema-chain-backs-out-of-town...
Parking after 3 pm was only ever £1, so all this is is a change back to daytime free parking for cinema-goers introduced by er the Greens and Independents.
I can understand it that as landlord, the council needed to try to do something to keep the lights on, but free daytime parking isn't going to make a non-viable entertainment site viable. What a mess.
Drivers angry about e-scooter and bike bays in Southampton
"Having had a car written off after a driver crashed into his vehicle while it was parked, and claiming drivers speed down the road at 50mph, he felt the bay was also an accident waiting to happen.
He said: “Not only do we all struggle to park on Priory Road but we have seen people travel up to 50 miles per hour – they will go straight into those bollards.""
